He smiled. She must be a mind reader, hopefully she wouldn't predict when he proposed to her.
“Yeah, I go tomorrow to sign the lease. I was gonna tell you tonight, and the equipment arrives next weekend.”

She smiled at him.
“So that means you'll be able to hold your grand opening in what? Two, maybe three weeks from now? Depending on how quickly we can find a small staff.”

“Yeah hopefully. We can have everything all set up and get some people in there working out.”
He smiled as he poured them some of the wine and made a toast to them and the gym opening soon.

Kylie took a sip of her wine after the toast Keith made before thinking about something.
“I was actually considering working in the office at the gym instead of trying to find another law office to work in right now. I figured you would probably need my help more with things just starting up. What do you think?”

“That would be great. Then I wouldn't have to miss you so much when I'm away because we would be together. We could take lunch together and everything else. I like that idea.”

“I was thinking the same thing, but Becca managed to find me another job that I can do until the gym opens up. Depending on how things go, I might even continue doing it after the gym opens up. The pay seems really good and I figure we might need it right now.”

He nodded. He was glad to have a woman who wanted to be both lover and partner
“Yeah we do. I wished you didn't have to work, but I'm glad that you are willing too. It shows your dedicated to making this relationship work and that means so much to me.”

“I don't mind working. My mom raised us to always be independent and be able to take care of ourselves. She often had to work two or three jobs while we were growing up being a single mom and all. As nice as it is to not have to be so independent since having met you, I wouldn't feel right about not pulling my own weight in the relationship. At least contributing something.”

He kissed her hand and used his other one to dig into his pocket
“And that's one of the reasons why I know I wanna be with you for the rest of my life.”
He pulled a box out of his pocket and opened it in front of her showing a beautiful diamond ring inside of it

Kylie looked up at Keith completely in shock. She was imagining things. He wasn't really proposing to her. And that wasn't the most beautiful ring she had ever seen that he was holding in front of her. She blinked a few times trying to force herself to see things more clearly. She wasn't imaging things. This was really happening. Keith seemed to be getting worried that she was taking so long to answer so Kylie quickly spit her answer out.
“Yes!”
Tears began to gather in Kylie's eyes. She tried to swipe them away, noticing that they had gathered a little attention from the surrounding tables.
“Yes, Keith, I will marry you.”
She smiled at him as the surrounding tables started to clap for them.

Keith smiles and gets from his table to walk over to her and give her a passionate kiss and then place the ring on her finger as a small crowd who noticed begin to applaud. Keith waves to them and bows before they turn their attention back to their food and Keith and Kylie take their seats again

Kylie notices all the attention that they have gotten and begins to blush brightly. She leans forward across the table and whispers.
“You had to go and do that in front of a room full of people didn't you?”
She covers her face from the still lingering onlookers. There weren't as many now, but still enough to make her blush even harder.

Yeah, like a movie. It was sweet in movies. This just made her uncomfortable. Kylie continues to hide behind her hands as she asks

Kylie blew out a long breath.
“Thank goodness.”
She lowered her hands and took a sip of her wine. She needed some wine right now to calm her nerves back down. After draining the glass, she looked up at Keith.
“How long have you been waiting to do that?”
Knowing him, this wasn't just a spur of the moment decision. He'd been waiting for the right time.

She smiled, knowing that she had been right about him waiting for the right time to ask her. For the first time, Kylie really looked down at the ring he had gotten her. It truly was beautiful. It wasn't anything huge or flashy. Keith knew she wasn't the type of girl that would want something like that. But she absolutely loved the white gold and diamond engagement ring he had picked out. The round-cut diamond at the center was just so classically beautiful.
“Did you pick this out yourself?”
She looked up at him.

He wanted to take credit for it, but he couldn't take all of it. He had a little help
“Well Becca helped a little bit. We even argued over it a little until we saw that one and agreed. It just screamed your name, it was something we both knew you'd love.”

So her sister had known about him proposing and hadn't told her. They had both been able to keep a secret this big from her. Kylie smiled
“Well you were both right. I absolutely love it.”
For the rest of their meal, they talk about everything from their new lives in New York to their engagement. Keith soon calls the waitress over for the bill. As they are waiting for her to come back with it, Kylie speaks up again.
“Did you have anything else planned for tonight or would you want to head home?”
