She smiled at his response, keeping her focus on her work. She found it amusing that he knew that was what her next question would probably have been.
“Both very good qualities in a guy. Okay a harder one, any reason a successful and good looking guy like you isn't already taken?”
Gutsy question. She wasn't sure she would have been able to ask just anyone that question, but because this was for her sister, she had been able to do it.
“Commitment issues?”

"i guess i just haven't found anyone lately that had the same interests as me and that i got along with. living in California most of the girls are way different then me or they are taken."
he paused doing some more work as she began to say

That answer seemed completely reasonable. Kylie personally couldn't judge him on that account. She had been painfully shy for most of her life and it had taken Keith forever to get through that layer of her to the point that she felt comfortable being around him. Michael looked to be about the same age as her so it wasn't like he was this 40 year old bachelor still out there partying it up where she'd have to worry about her little sister being around all that.
“So if you aren't looking for a California type girl...” She paused imagining the type of girl Michael was talking about. It wasn't difficult. She wasn't so much imagining how they looked – although it probably included lots of plastic surgery – but more so how they acted. Selfish. Ego-driven. Sharks.
“What are you looking for?”

“Seems like a reasonable request. At least you aren't looking for some perfect unattainable girl or anything. A lot of guys seem to have unrealistic expectations. Yours at least seem like simple.”
She pauses.
“I imagine that you would want someone who would be good with your daughter as well.”
She didn't know the girl's name or how old she was, but that was one of the parts that concerned her most about Rebecca possibly being interested in Michael. He had a child. Kylie wasn't sure Rebecca could handle that. She was still very young and had a lot going for her.

Kylie nodded. So they shared the same concerns. Kylie knew that ultimately it would be Becca's decision, but she was glad that at least Michael was on the same page as she was. Kylie finished two more orders before she said anything else.
“It didn't work out with your daughter's mother. Why?” she paused. “Has there been anyone else since that has sparked your interest? That you thought you might have had a future with.”
Kylie was both curious but also trying to figure out why his relationships didn't seem to work out. He seemed like a really nice guy. He wasn't interested in the gold diggers or the high maintenance types. He seemed to want a down to earth type girl so why hadn't he found one? Was it because of his daughter? Did she scare potential girlfriends away? Was becoming a mother to someone’s kid so scary for some women?

"well we broke up a week before she found out she was pregnant she was all jealous and would none stop call me every single hour of every day i was on tour and if i didn't answer she would say i was cheating on her. and yelled at me if she saw me taking a picture with a girl who was a fan of the band."
he paused for a moment.
"once she had ivy she didn't want anything to do with me or her. so i took ivy and we never saw her again. as for sparking my interest my last girlfriend did who i met living here. she ha a ex husband and kids. she left new york im assuming to go back and be with then. she never really told me or said anything before she just disappeared.'
he was working on a order as he stopped and she started to say.

Kylie frowned. She hadn't expected him to say that. He really did have bad luck with women, but he was being very honest and open with her and for that she respected him even more.
“I'm sorry. That's all so horrible.”
She wasn't sure how he could possibly even want to try a relationship again after having the last two end so badly. Kylie focused on her work for a moment gathering her thoughts before speaking again.
“Thank you for allowing me to ask some questions. I know you didn't have to and I know my questions probably weren't easy to answer, but I feel better about it. Knowing that you aren't some creep.”

"its no problem at all. i imagine since your working would me you would want to know if i was a creep or not also."
he paused again looking at her.
"i can give you a ride home if you don't want to take the bus again. i have you money for today's work upstairs."
she then began to say.

Kylie looks down at her watch. She hadn't realized that so much time had already passed. She looked back up at Michael.
“Actually, if you don't mind, could you drop me off at my boyfriend's gym? He was needing me to look at some paperwork when I got done here and then he can just give me a ride home after wards. The gym is actually closer than our place anyway.”

“He is allowing people to come in and check the place out and sign contracts with us if they want to be a member of the gym, but it won't be officially opened until the first of the year.”
Keith had been working so hard on getting the gym ready. He had already delayed the opening once because he hadn't managed to find enough trainers and staff. He had managed to hire a few people to be trainers there and hold classes but it had been Kylie's idea to wait until the first of the year to officially open up to the public. That was when most people got it into their heads that they wanted to get into fitness and lose weight. It was the best time to sign up new clients in Kylie's mind.
“I'm sure he would be willing to talk to you about it and answer all your questions.”

Kylie followed Michael in silence until they got to the top of the stairs.
“Are you sure we got enough done for today?”
It wasn't that she wasn't tired and ready to leave for the day, but she didn't want to give Michael the impression that she was lazy either.
“I can stay for a little longer if you need me to.” She added politely.

He got to the top of the stairs and shut the basement door behind them he said.
"We can do more next work day. You are welcome to get something to drink if you want something. Or sit on the couch if your tired of standing."
He walked into the living room to get her pay he set aside as she said.

Kylie looked down at her feet thinking about it. Her mom always taught her to be polite. Especially when she was in someone else's home. Accept things when they were offered to her, but at the same time never take to much. Don't be greedy.
“A glass of water sounds nice. But I can always wait until we get to the gym if you have other things you need to do.”

He went into the kitchen for get her some water. And walked to her handing her the water.
"I usually just stay here till she gets out of school and if I get bored I play video games or go record music. Then I pick her u and do a few things. Figured your boyfriend would be waiting for you since you need to look at paper work."
He stopped talking and looked at her as she said.
